This year’s NRO is being held earlier than usual: the weekend of Aug. 21-23. As the host grotto, we promise you no snow. We cannot promise warm weather, no rain, or no hurricanes, but our fingers are crossed. Pre-register by August 12th and get a free guidebook! Download the editable NRO registration form
or fillable pdf
and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have trouble saving the pdf, please print it out and bring with you to NRO.
Please pay attention to campground speed-limit signs and parking directions. August is a very busy time for campgrounds so please be respectful towards others that we are sharing the campground with this weekend. Camping and dining details are listed on next pages.
Central Bridge is “central” to many of the caves in Schoharie County, and not too far from some of the popular caves just over the border in Albany County. The site is just minutes away from McFail’s, Bensons, Sellecks, and Schoharie Cave Preserves. In addition to caving trips of all skill levels, there are many hiking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes nearby. What's it like caving in New York? Just ask the Connecticut Grotto folks - they've put together an awesome Caving in New York
Stick around after dinner, because Saturday at 9:00 pm Teddy Garlock will give a presentation on his recent northeastern sump-diving expeditions and on a project exploring some deep, flooded mines that he has been involved in.
Following breakfast on Sunday morning, there will be the official NRO meeting at 9:30 am which is open to all. Checkout time from the campground is 12:00 noon on Sunday so please pack all your gear up before heading out on any Sunday caving trips.
A number of non-native tree-killing insects have been found in different parts of the northeast. Please do your part to prevent the spread of these invasive species by buying firewood locally rather than bringing it with you when you travel. Transported firewood can harbor pests from other areas and cause a new infestation miles away from currently infected areas.
We have two registered vendors for the event:
2) Gneiss Art
We have also received sponsorship from Fenix Lights
. Fenix makes some great headlamps and has given us a few samples to demo at the NRO along with some T-shirts and other gifts. Come check these lights out at the registration area.
See you all underground!
